Therapy Forms

These are the therapy forms that I offer

Transdiagnostic Therapy

The DSM lists symptoms that combined in a certain way will be called a certain disorder. There are people who experience more than the label given by the DSM. With this form of therapy we look into the underlying problems and solutions. It is believed that all problems are caused by either problems with dealing with tension or problems dealing with emotions. With transdiagnostic therapy, this concept is propagated by giving tools to be better able to deal with tension/stressors and learning to understand your emotions and see them as the important messengers that they are of your well being.

This is  a form of insightful therapy. With schematherapy we look into patterns that have been established in your youth, leading you to perceive the world, others and yourself in a certain way. With schematherapy you get insight into these patterns (schema’s) and how you have developed your lifestyle (modes) based on that. With schematherapy you learn to develop your Healthy Adult, your Happy Child and take care of your Vulnerable Child mode.

What is Schematherapy?

EMDR is a form of therapy where with help of external stimuli, the traumatic response of stress is uncoupled from the images of the traumatic event. We encourage you to watch this short, but concise video about what EMDR is like. Instead of the finger movement as discussed in the video, we will use a light beam and or other tools.

How Does EMDR work?

In compassion focused therapy we delve into creating more compassion for yourself. Watch this video about CFT to get a better understanding of what you could expect.

in exposure therapy we bring the behavioural therapy part out of cognitive behavioural therapy and focus solely on getting the experiences that you fear. This therapy will be especially helpful for those that catch themselves saying ‘I know it’s not scary, but it doesn’t feel that way’.

We take a different approach than most running therapist. Instead of focusing on running, we focus on getting you to be active again. Those who don’t’ want to run, can walk as we will stay in an area where you can set personal challenges and still be able to see and share each other’s growth. It will be a mixture of cardiovascular training and strength training where small growths can be expected every session. Even the people who have never done any sports in their entire life will be able to participate and have their personal goals tailored to and met.

This form of trauma therapy focuses on getting you to share your story. We will go through your lifeline together and look at both the positive (roses) and the hardshipps (stones) that are present on your lifeline. You will either then write your story yourself or will get help in writing it. At the end you will be presented with a booklet of your life story to share with anyone you wish to get close to or get closer with.

This therapy form is about looking into where you come from and how that is part of your identity.  Autonomy is

  • Reflecting on your own needs
  • Be less sensitive to the opinions/needs of others
  • Increase ability to deal with new situations

Do you recognize yourself in sayings like ‘I’m not worth it, I’m not good enough, I’m ugly’ and other self-devalueing statements? Then this therapy form is for you. We’ll help you build a more honest view of yourself with this therapy form.

Emotions regulation therapy – if you find yourself struggling with how to recognize the important messages your emotions try to tell you, when you get angry easily or even implode when feeling overwhelmed, then this therapy can help you become more in balance.

Neuropsychological deficits training – next to offering neuropsychogical testing ( IQ tests, neuropsychological deficits testing ) I also offer tools to help you deal with these deficits.

As social beings we get a lot of healing from our social support network. Family is the first social support network we often start out with in life. In systemic therapy, we also take into account that other people we gather in our lives for support can become our main support network as well. With systemic therapy we invite those people to join you in therapy. I take both an emotion focused /  attachment based approach and a narrative approach during those sessions.

When you want to build on your relationship with your partner, this is for you. EFT is about communicating your underlying fears and needs to each other in a safe environment where I help both of you steer clear from the vicious circle of communicating that is putting your relationship under pressure.
